Vicodin contains a combination of acetaminophen and hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is an opioid pain medication. An opioid is sometimes called a narcotic. Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of hydrocodone. Vicodin tablets are used for the relief of moderate to moderately severe pain.
Nausea, vomiting, constipation, light headedness, dizziness or drowsiness may occur. Some of these side effects may decrease after you have been using this medication for a while. Please consult your doctor if face any of these problems.
To prevent constipation, eat dietary fiber, drink enough water, and exercise. If problem still persists ask your pharmacist which type of laxative is right for you.
To reduce the risk of dizziness and light headedness get up slowly when rising from sitting or lying position.
